Pre-Departure

Review Pre-Departure Documents

View pre-departure documents by term and program.

Your program has a specific set of predeparture documents to help you prepare for your semester abroad. These include:

  • Travel documents
  • Country overview
  • Packing guidelines
  • Health, safety, and security
  • Readings, resources, and assignments

Please read over all materials carefully and share them with your parent(s), guardian(s), or anyone with whom you wish to share additional information about your program preparation. If you have questions, please consult your SIT Study Abroad admissions counselor for more information.

In addition to these materials, you should also read through the SIT Study Abroad Student Handbook as well as the general health and safety information provided on this website.

About one month prior to your departure, you will receive a letter from your academic or program director. This letter includes an introduction from the director and an outline of program expectations, as well as a tentative itinerary (subject to change during the term).

Prior to your program’s start, you will also have the opportunity to network with your fellow participants. This information is made available after all students on the program have fully completed all aspects of program preparation.

SIT Study Abroad strongly encourages you to consult other sources in addition to SIT Study Abroad materials to learn as much as possible about the location and theme of your program. For additional resources relevant to a specific program, please see the Readings, Resources, and Assignments predeparture document.

There are more helpful links on the Student Resources and Registrar’s Office pages. There, you’ll find student handbooks, forms, and academic resources.
