SIT is excited to announce three new scholarships for students participating in our summer 2027 programs. When combined with SIT need-based scholarships, students may receive up to $3,500 in scholarship support toward their Summer 2027 study abroad program.

Early Bird Scholarship
Apply for a summer 2027 program by January 8, 2027, at 11:59PM ET and automatically receive a $500 scholarship. No extra steps needed!

Yes! If you deferred your application from Summer 2026, you are eligible.
If I defer or withdraw my Summer 2027 application, do I keep the scholarship?
No, if you defer or withdraw your Summer 2027 application, you are no longer eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants Refer-a-Friend Scholarship
Don’t let your friends miss out on a summer abroad! Submit your summer 2027 application and automatically receive a referral coupon code via email to share with friends.
Once your friend submits their summer 2027 application using the coupon code and verifies your referral, you both receive a $500 scholarship. You may earn up to $1,000 for two successful referrals. Coupon codes must be entered at the time of application.

- Submit your Summer 2027 program application and automatically receive a coupon code via email to share with your friends.
- Have your friend enter the coupon code when prompted on their summer 2027 application.
- Look for an email from our Office of Student Financial Support asking you to confirm the name of the friend who referred you.
- Once confirmed, both you and your friend receive the $500 scholarship.
Is there a limit on how many friends I can refer?
You can share your coupon code with multiple friends, but you can only receive a maximum of $1,000 for two successful referrals. A referral is considered successful when the referred friend submits an application for a summer 2027 program.
What happens if I referred a friend and they withdraw or defer their application? Do I keep the scholarship?
No, if a referred friend withdraws or defers their application, neither of you keeps the scholarship.
What happens if I was referred by a friend and they withdrew or deferred their application? Do I keep the scholarship?
Yes, if the friend who referred you withdraws or defers their application, you keep the scholarship.
Do I need to enroll in the same Summer 2027 program as my friend who referred me to receive the scholarship?
No, you can enroll in any Summer 2027 program to receive the scholarship.
What happens if multiple applicants refer the same student?
The referral credit goes to the applicant who submitted their application first.
If I forget to enter the coupon code on my application, can I still receive the scholarship?
No, to be eligible for the scholarship you must enter the coupon code on your application when you submit your application.
Alumni Refer-a-Friend Scholarship
Did you love your SIT Study Abroad program? Tell your friends and help them receive a $500 scholarship for summer study abroad!
Recent alumni of any SIT study abroad program will receive a referral code via email to provide to their friends. When the friend submits a summer 2027 application using the alum’s coupon code, the friend will receive the scholarship. Codes must be entered at the time of application.
There is no limit on how many friends an eligible alum may refer.

Eligible alumni of SIT study abroad programs will be emailed a coupon code to provide to their friends. On your summer 2027 admissions application, you must enter the coupon code when prompted to receive the $500 scholarship.

No, if you defer or withdraw your Summer 2027 application, you are no longer eligible for the scholarship.

Are the scholarships combinable?
Yes. You can combine Early Bird, Referral, and Need-Based scholarships up to a maximum total of $3,500.
How are these scholarships provided to me?
All scholarships are applied to your SIT program bill to reduce your balance owed. Students will not receive cash payments.
Can the scholarships be applied to any SIT study abroad program?The Early Bird and Referral scholarships only apply to summer 2027 programs. SIT offers need-based scholarships for all semester (fall and spring) and summer study abroad programs.
