Karina Gabriela Balbuena, PhD candidate
Karina Gabriela Balbuena holds a degree in sociology and is a specialist in the field of epidemiology. She is a candidate for the PhD in social sciences at the university of Buenos Aires. Currently she works as director of human resources at the National Drug, Food, and Medical Technology Administration (ANMAT). She is a university professor in scientific research methodology and has vast experience in social and health research. She has collaborated with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in health emergencies and outbreak research training sessions in Latin America. She is advisor for PAHO in Buenos Aires and has participated in virtual training activities organized by ANMAT and the National Health Ministry.

Alejandro Bertolotti, MD
Alejandro Bertolotti is a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon at the University Hospital of the Favaloro Foundation. He has had various leadership positions including head of intrathoracic transplantation and heart failure service, head of thoracic surgery, and director of the homograft bank. Since March 2016, he has led the transplant department. Dr. Bertolotti is active a member of more than 10 national and international societies and has authored or co-authored more than 100 works presented in national and international congresses. He participates with the National Institute for Ablation and Implant Coordination to develop the organization’s regulations and standards.

Rafael Kurtzbat, PhD, MS
Rafael Kurtzbat holds a PHD in medicine, an MD, a master’s degree in health services administration and public health, and a degree in economics. As head of the Economic Research Area at Hospital El Cruce in Buenos Aires, he has led the clinical-economic analysis of cost management for decision-making, the evaluation of hospital technology, and the evaluation of the fulfillment of the mission as a complex hospital system. He is the author of numerous national and international publications and has received numerous awards. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Argentine Association of Health Economics.

Julieta Rodríguez Camara, MD, MS, PhD candidate
Julieta Rodríguez Camara holds an MD and a master’s of science in epidemiology and health policies management and is a specialist in health sciences statistics. She researches non-transmissible chronic diseases for the National Health Ministry and works as a medical doctor at a Hospital Piñero in Buenos Aires. She teaches epidemiology and demography at Catholic University School of Medicine. She has also taught at ISALUD University and worked in the research area at Zubizarreta Hospital in Buenos Aires.

Sebastian Sustas, PhD 
Sebastian holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Buenos Aires, a master’s degree in generation and analysis of statistical information from National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF), and a doctorate in social sciences from University of Buenos Aires, where he is a professor with the Public Health Department and Social Sciences Faculty. He is also an assistant researcher for the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). Dr. Sustas teaches research methods at the post-graduate level at University of Buenos Aires and National University of San Martin. His research focuses on young populations and social policies. He is consultant for national and international agencies and has published numerous articles in national and international specialized journals as well as book chapters and books. 

Maria Eugenia Royer, MA
Maria Eugenia holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Buenos Aires and a master’s degree in health systems and social security from ISALUD, where she has been an associate professor of epidemiology and demography since 1999. She also has been a professor at other universities and local institutions. She completed her postgraduate studies on health services administration and led the Department of Statistical Analysis at the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, working on the design and coordination of primary healthcare systems. She is the author of numerous academic works that analyze and characterize the epidemiological profile of the users of the government’s healthcare system, as well as more general epidemiological and demographic studies.

Mariano San Martin, PhD candidate
Mariano holds a degree in economics, a master’s degree in social protection and health systems at ISALUD University, and is a PhD candidate in public health with a focus on epidemiology at UCES University. He is the academic director for the SIT program in Buenos Aires Argentina: Public Health in Urban Environments.  He has been director of health statistics at the Ministry of Health of Buenos Aires Province and associate researcher in the Social Area of the United Nations Development Program. He has also worked as a consultant in public health for national and international organizations.  

Guillermo Tabares, MD
Guillermo Tabares holds an MD and is a health data scientist. He is a consultant in big data solutions, health financing and payment mechanisms, and healthcare analytics for governments, health insurance and healthcare providers. Dr. Tabares is a specialist in patient classification systems and the evaluation of hospital production. He studied business at the Babson School of Business in Boston and consults for hospitals, public and private health insurance and technology companies in Latin America. He is a visiting professor in various postgraduate courses in health administration and participates on a team of researchers. He is the general director of AVEDIAN, a company that develops technological solutions for the clinical and economic management of health institutions and the implementation of payment and contracting models. He participates as a co-founding member in the executive management and scientific board of SOLAGEC (Latin American Society for Clinical Management).
