This course offers three weeks of online study and three weeks abroad. The online course is open to all applicants. The in-person J-term is open to college undergraduates who have completed the online term or who provide proof of completion (or the equivalent) of at least one semester of language study.

This intensive Nepali language program for all language levels is designed to immerse students in Nepali language, culture, and food habits. Explore Nepal’s diverse geophysical landscape during the January term. Each interactive lesson builds your confidence and capacity to understand and learn the Nepali language. The three-week online course is designed to combine both synchronous and asynchronous learning through grammar, sentence structure, and basic communication skills. Students who have a background in Nepali language will build on those skills to attain higher levels of speaking and comprehension.

The three weeks of intensive immersion in Nepal in January are designed to build on your previous learning. Enhance your Nepali language skills while living with a Nepali family in Kathmandu. An excursion to rural Nepal will include daily language classes, practice, and fieldwork while experiencing the diversity of Nepal’s geography, food, and culture.
